The Gentleman in Repose

Theodore Alexander’s luxurious, comfortable appeal is highlighted in the Robb Report’s exploration of the gentleman at rest in his home.

Forager, a life-size sculpture in verdigris brass, the 5th Earl Spencer’s favourite foxhound, provides silent counsel in this contemplative evening scene.

The original life-size model stands beside the fireplace in the Billiard Room at Althorp, beneath the portrait of the man who immortalized this hound.

Forager was voted the Best Foxhound in England and was part of the Pytcheley Pack. The original is by artist Adrian Jones and was commissioned in 1893.

Louis XV style Bureau Plat ‘A Royal Memoir’ adds a regal tone to this library setting.

‘A Royal Memoir’ features three delicately shaped frieze drawers with Rocaille handles. The desk stands on hand carved cabriole legs with fine brass mounts, ending in sabots.

The desktop is inset with hand coloured oxblood red leather.
