Charles, Ninth Earl Spencer, is visiting selected Theodore Alexander retailers in the United States and Canada this summer to promote the Althorp Living History Collection.
At these receptions Earl Spencer speaks to the public and press about the history and significance of his ancestral Estate, Althorp, the home of nineteen generations of the Spencer Family. He also discusses how significant furniture acquisitions by the Spencer family during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries inspired the collection and how they have personal relevance for the family today.
Successful 2015 events have already concluded at Louis Shanks in Houston and Jordans Interiors in Vancouver and Victoria. All three were marked by superb attendance and marked consumer enthusiasm. Lord Spencer spoke eloquently of his family and the heritage of his ancestral home and signature items from Althorp Living History were signed by Lord Spencer and purchased at the events. “To watch five hundred people plus become enraptured with laughter one minute, only to be enchanted and charmed the next, by what seemed to be a boundless amount of engaging tales of Althorp and the wonderful personalities that have called it home, was incredible to be part of,” said David de Lusignan of Jordans Interiors.
Further events are planned at Mathews Furniture in Atlanta (11th August) and The Shops at Carolina Furniture of Williamsburg in Virgina (12th August). “We are delighted to host guest of honor, Lord Charles Spencer, the ninth Earl Spencer, on this special evening for a book signing of his new novel Killers of the King: The Men Who Dared to Execute Charles I and a close look at the exceptional furniture line for Theodore Alexander based on the fine art and furniture from Althorp, the English historic family home of the Spencer family for over 500 years, “ states Nina Nash of Mathews Furniture. Of the Carolina Furniture Event, President Joe Steele says “We at The Shops at Carolina Furniture of Williamsburg are thrilled to be a part of such an engaging event. We’re looking forward to hearing Charles, the Ninth Earl Spencer’s passionate perspective on his family’s history and his endeavors to preserve that legacy.”
