Last night in New York City, New York Spaces celebrated the firms and products whose innovations are keeping New York at the forefront of the home and design industry, with an accolade that truly highlighted the New York area LEADERS IN HOME PRODUCTS DESIGN.
Design Legend Jamie Drake of Drake / Anderson won Leader in Home Products Design for his Theodore Alexander collection.
New York Spaces’ editors nominated approximately 250 firms and individuals across the ten categories. Then, thousands of designers, luxury homeowners, readers of New York Spaces magazine, newyorkspaces.com, and NYC style devotees voted on the Nominees from February 6 – March 3, 2017 to determine the five Finalists in each category. Next, a panel of eight industry luminaries met on March 29th and chose the winners.
The judges were: Joshua McHugh, Louise Phillips Forbes, Martin Kesselman, Janice Langrall, Bruce Tilley, John Barman, (all present at this evenings event), plus Gisue Hariri and Matthew White. The elegant evening brought together product manufacturers and New York designers to learn more about the latest creations, share experiences, network, and have fun.
The party was attended by New York design industry luminaries such as: Ralph Pucci, Dennis Miller and many more, including Kim Mitchell, recently featured on multiple episodes of Property Brothers. A portion of the proceeds from tonight’s event will be donated to the NYSID Alumni Scholarship Fund, making it possible for aspiring designers to pursue their studies. “A year in the making at New York Spaces, the Leaders In Home Products Design Awards culminated last night by shining an industry-wide light on Winners who brighten the lives of style-centric NY home renters and owners, through their creations and their work,” says Jason Kontos, Editorial Director of New York Spaces.
