        Theodore Alexander and Historic Charm in Detroit

        Interior Designer Corey Damen Jenkins has used Theodore Alexander furniture with panache in a 1939 Colonial Revival in a Detroit suburb, featured in the May edition of Traditional Home.

        In the emerald green foyer (above) Corey employs a pair of ‘Sophy’s Chairs‘, ebonised and parcel gilt occasional chairs based on Regency originals. Between the chairs is  ‘Blaise‘, an ingenious mechanical rotating centre table.

        Elsewhere in this magnificent home we see the ‘Radiating Parquetry‘ table  (below, centre) which adds a touch of English Georgian style.

        Two ‘Ashford‘ tables flank an antique settee in the parlour, where their bold veined marble tops complement the rich green and blue colour palette (below).

        Finally, ‘The Jennings and Betteridge‘ Table is the perfect piece to place antique pineapple canisters in a touch of whimsy (below, right).

        All the Theodore Alexander pieces cited are in-stock and available for immediate shipment from Hickory, North Carolina.

            Theodore Alexander Opposes HB2

            Theodore Alexander celebrates diversity and tolerance as two of our fundamental principles. We are opposed to discrimination in all its forms, including that based on gender, sexual orientation, race or religion. Theodore Alexander is disappointed by the recent North Carolina HB2 legislation and strives to promote a welcoming environment for all.

            Our industry and design partner Jamie Drake echoes our sentiments;

            “I am extremely dismayed by the passage of HB2. I feel lucky to live in a modern world, and work in an industry that has been open to all for years. The design industry is one of inclusiveness and individuality. I implore the people of North Carolina to demand of their elected representatives that the law be repealed immediately, and reverse this step backwards.”

            At April Market Theodore Alexander launches Michael Berman at Theodore Alexander. Berman states:

            “I have always believed in approaching life with kindness, love and respecting differences without discrimination.

            On March 23rd, North Carolina’s General Assembly proposed and passed the House Bill 2 (HB2) and Gov. Pat McCrory signed it into law.  HB2 blatantly discriminates against LGBTQ people and this is unacceptable.

            As a symbol of support and solidarity for our design community and for basic freedom from discrimination in North Carolina and throughout our country, I am pleased to partner with Theodore Alexander in donating funds to The Trevor Project.  The Trevor Project focuses on crisis and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ youth while helping many young and talented individuals who are desperate to be heard, understood, work and live within safe environments.“

            Please join us in the stance against HB2 by speaking out, continuing to support and patronize the many manufacturers, designers and tradespeople in High Point that have always stood up for and believed in the beauty of diversity.
